Online Shopping in Australia - TRENDS

The phenomenal growth in Online Shopping over the Internet continues unabated. The biggest factors pushing this growth are convenience and much cheaper prices than in the local retail mall.

Conversely, the biggest negatives are the security concerns over paying for purchases over the Internet, and the fact that one cannot try on clothing purchases (for example) before purchasing.

For those who are still unclear and unsure of what online shopping entails, the Australian Government, via the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) produced a report dated April 2011, which is freely available over the Internet, and provided here in the public interest. It provides a comprehensive picture, albeit a few years old, of where Online Shopping (E-Commerce) is at in Australia. Click HERE to view/print the report.

It shows that the two largest online shopping sites used by Australians are eBay and , which are global sites. You can access both by clicking on their names/icons above.

From a security perspective, providing your credit card details can be made more secure by setting up a PayPal account, in which you provide your credit card details once to PayPal, and thereafter you just log into your PayPal account and authorise any payments - no repeated credit card details required. The bottom line is that purchasing via online shopping is still more secure than providing your credit card at a checkout - the banks are happy to support it, so it must be ok. You can create a PayPal account by clicking HERE  to go to PayPal, and then click on Sign Up.

If we look at major retail outlets in Australia, you will see that most of them provide Online Shopping websites. Here at , our aim is to provide similar online shopping services for businesses in the local community, regardless of their size.

If you would like to explore your options and associated cost, just contact us via the Contact Us menu item at the top, to initiate discussions.

At this time, the structure is being put in place, so you can take a look at the 4017 Shopping Mall by clicking HERE. It currently contains just sample items, just to show what it will look like.
